I’m just checking it out.

We totally get that. Different people have different reasons for wanting to come to church for the first time. Some people want to become closer to God, some just want the community and friendships. Some come to try to make a difference in the world with others while others are drawn to God through rituals and symbols. Maybe you’re thinking about coming to please a partner or you think church should be important for your kids.

I’m thinking about coming back.

We’ve worked with a lot of people who, for a lot of reasons, make their way back to church after a time away. Some people don’t intentionally quit church, it just wasn’t a priority. Some people were really let down by church while others felt they no longer fit their church.

When you think about coming back to church, you might be: excited, yet nervous; timid, yet hopeful; suspicious, yet eager…plus lots of other valid feelings.

Everyone has their own reasons. You know yours.

We might be a good fit if you: are new to Pearland and are trying to make some new friends; are starting a new chapter of your spiritual life; want a more just society; enjoy thoughtful discussions; honor the traditions of the church by imagining them in new ways; are unimpressed with religious fundamentalism (both conservative and liberal); have doubts about the religious life; and want to co-create a community you would be proud of with others.
